Calculator of the amount of building insulation for walls and foundations.

Type of building insulation Insulation
Depending on the region of residence and the necessary heat-saving characteristics.
The units of measurement are centimeters.
Thickness of building insulation
cm
The perimeter of the building is the sum of the length of all the walls required for calculation. The example shows a perimeter of 30 meters, for a house of 7 * 8 meters (7+7+8+8=30).
Units of measurement are meters.
Total length of all walls (perimeter)
meters
If the height of the walls is different, you must specify the average height (the sum of the height of all walls divided by the number of walls). For example, if the height of two walls is equal to 350 centimeters, and the other two are 250 centimeters each, you must specify 300 centimeters ((350+250)/2=300).
The units of measurement are centimeters.
Wall height
cm
The volumetric weight of the insulation.
Units of measurement - kilogram per cubic meter.
Insulation density
kg/m3
The amount of building insulation 13.5 m3
Total insulation area 90 m2
Approximate number of fasteners 540 pcs
Total weight of building insulation 405 kg
The cost of building insulation 202.5 $
The cost of fasteners 27 $

Information on the purpose of the calculator

Online insulation calculator, designed to calculate the amount and volume of insulation for external walls and side surfaces of foundations of buildings. The calculations take into account window and door openings, as well as the cost of insulation and additional materials.

Expanded Polystyrene (PPS) and Extruded Polystyrene (EPPS)

is one of the most affordable and effective lightweight insulation. More than 90% consists of air, which is the best heat insulator. Conventional PPS is used for insulation of external walls of buildings, but since it is a moisture-permeable material, it is not recommended to use it for insulation of foundations. For these purposes, EPPS is best suited, which, when warming foundations, is also a moisture-proof layer.

Mats of stone (basalt) wool

The most important advantages of this material are the ease of processing, you will not need any special equipment to work with it, a knife or a saw with small teeth is enough. It is worth remembering that the cotton wool plates should be joined very tightly, but it is forbidden to tamper them or compress them. The mats are covered from the inside with a vapor barrier membrane, and from the outside with a windproof film, this is necessary in order to protect the cotton wool from moisture.

With strong moisture, stone and mineral wool loses its heat-saving characteristics
